RIP Jimmy Castor

RIP to one of the most soulful bandleaders around, Jimmy Castor



"What we gonna do right here is go back -- WAY back! Back into time." If you ever heard this quote before, you can thank Jimmy Castor for it. In fact, that quote alone have been sampled in so many songs (BlackStreet's "Don't Leave Me," N.W.A's "Gangsta Gangsta," Christina Aguilera's "Back in the Day," etc.), it'll be hard for me to list it all. Castor's funk classic "It's Just Begun" is also commonly sampled (ranging from Pharrell to Jamiroquai to Spice Girls), yet the song is also famously featured in the 1983 film Flashdance. We at ZS Music Blog would like to send condolences to Jimmy Castor's friends, family, and fans. We all know that his music truly lives on.
