ZS Grammy Predictions

Now, how I honestly feel about the Grammys can only be described in these great words of Chuck D. However, I'm not totally against the Grammys as much as I'm apathetic towards it. In an industry where the people are force-fed garbage while presented as gourmet, I can't take some of the Grammy nominees and winners seriously in an award that supposedly awards highly prestigious music. But there are also many Grammy nominees and winners that I look forward to winning, and/or celebrate their highly-deserving accolades.

The nominees of the upcoming Grammys were no different from last year (and the last last year...and the last last year...): filled with artists/songs that we've either heard every second on the radio or artists/songs we've never heard of at all. And many artists who I felt earned their right to be nominated are snubbed by the haughty music critics as not cool or relevant enough to be even listened to. That's not unusual for me, but I have a prediciton for the Grammy nominees on who I hope would win and who will probably win in the next four months.

Record of the Year
Adele - "Rolling in the Deep"
Bon Iver - "Holocene"
Bruno Mars - "Grenade"
Mumford & Sons - "The Cave"
Katy Perry - "Fireworks"

So I decided to start with the biggest award nomination of the Grammys. Three of the songs that are played nonstop on the radio, MTV (wait, MTV still plays music?), etc. And I surely don't need to point out which ones, do I? My predictions are as followed though: Adele may get the big one, that is if she hasn't won 12 of them already that night. But then again, I think Grammy might do a turnaround and give it to Bon Iver (pronounced like "bone-e-vair," I believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong) or to Mumford & Sons as the rock underdogs who rises on top. Why not? They gave Arcade Fire "Album of the Year" this year.

Album of the Year
Adele - 21
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Lady Gaga - Born This Way
Bruno Mars - Doo-Wops & Hooligans
Rihanna - Loud

My money goes to either Adele or Lady Gaga. Adele, because this will be her fifty'leventh Grammy that she'll win at the Grammys. And Lady Gaga, because the world'll be curious to who/what she'll protray as as she accepts her award. Who knows? Gaga would probably dress like a frog. While it's not like it's something she haven't done before, she'll take the frog outfit to the next level. As soon as her name is announced, you'll see her hopping off her chair, bouncing and hopping right to the stage, lean close to a mic to let out a huge "errrrrrrrrrr-RIBBIT!" (which would probably be "Thank you all and God bless the gays" in frogese), and whip out a long tounge to swallow the Grammys whole. Don't ask me how sh'ell do that, but I know that she could...and would. {*croak*}.

Song of the Year
Kanye West - "All of the Lights" (feat. err'body and yo' mama)
Mumford & Sons - "The Cave"
Bruno Mars - "Grenade"
Bon Iver - "Holocene"
Adele - "Rolling in the Deep"

Well, I would like Kanye West to win because it'll bring a Grammy to my momma. Oh you didn't hear her? She was the one who did the "oh-ooh-whoooooa" part with Alicia Keys. And of course Keys' vocals was magically turned up on the album's version (...douche). But then again, it'll probably go to Adele for her thousandth Grammy that she'll win that night. Now I'm happy for Adele's upcoming suceess, but be prepared to see her having to get up and down off of stage again to grab her awards. Be prepared to celebrate it or be extremely tired of it. Because her songs made it to Glee, and if your songs made it to Glee, then that means your songs are the only songs that matters in the world! Adele wins! FLAWLESS VICTORY!

Best New Artist
The Band Perry
Bon Iver
J. Cole
Nicki Minaj
Skrillex

This year's Best New Artist category brings very interesting choices. On one hand, you have country band aptly known as The Band Perry. On the other, you have Bon Iver, who are rapidly moving from guilty folk pleasures to a band that now even cool people loves. On the other, you have J. Cole, a N.C. cat who was just another face in the crowd in Dave Chappelle's Block Party, to the face that you'll always see on T.V. and magazines worldwide. On the other hand, you have Nicki Minaj, and you can fill in the rest, ladies and gentlemen. And on the last hand you have, Skrillex, whose nomination and (maybe) win may be the mainstream kickstart to the whole dubstep movement that has been taking over the world as of lately. Which'll may be why Skrillex might WIN! But then again, it might go to Nicki, because she's changin' the game -- Wii U. These other artists stank -- P.U. She gettin' all the cream -- DQ. These femcees are robots -- beep boop.

Those are just my thoughts on who might win the Grammys. Sure there are plenty, PLENTY more nominations to cover, but that'll just make your screen freeze. I might give my thoughts on the others soon, but let me know what y'all think about it -- Lynn Collins (Google her if you're a young'n -- holla back).
